Sea Mills

Sea Mills was part of the original Hotwells to Avonmouth line which was opened in March 1865.

The buildings seen in the above photograph (looking towards Clifton) were first opened in january 1907. At that point there were both up- and down-tracks, though the station has now been "restored" to its original single track design. However, both bridges over the river Trym still remain. A "subway" was also built in 1907, and that is still there, well, at least you can walk by the side of the river underneath the bridge and come up the other side. There was apparently a goods siding as well for a time, but I found no trace of that when I was there in 1999.

The only buildings which are actually part of the station now is this small brick shelter, seen here in a view looking towards Avonmouth, and a glass "Bus stop" type shelter.

Immediately after leaving Sea Mills in the Avonmouth direction the railway line crosses the river Trym
on this rustic (or should that be rusty?) iron bridge.
